All characters are temporarily located on Golem.Feel free to /tell me (or DM me on Discord if I've given that out) if I don't immediately respond to something.
Sorry, it's a lot.
I'm putting this at the top, because I've had more than a couple of issues with it. I am relatively lenient with people's headcanon of lore. I'm not a lore freak, but I do try to structure anything 'headcanony' to be referencing something in the MSQ or sidequests. That said, playable sin eaters (or those that twist the 'reaper' avatars to use a sin eater) bother me. If you want a signed dissertation of why, feel free to ask, but it's unlikely you'll sway me from disliking it as a concept. Sorry, person who's RPed with Ogg a lot, but I just don't like telling people directly I don't like the main concept behind their character.
Sorry number two: I tend not to get with characters that are lifted wholecloth from other universes. This is both a "I made a Final Fantasy character" issue and a "I just ported my character from another MMO RP without even bothering to make any lore changes, they're just 'from another world'". Don't want to keep you from doing it, just want to keep a distance from it. The litmus test here is "Would you raise an eyebrow if your character was part of a television adaptation of FFXIV?" At least make an effort to live in the world you're a part of, it doesn't have to be particularly lore deep. Hell, make a decent excuse for your name being weirdly modern or off-kilter for this world, at least.
I tend to use the in-game RP tag next to one's name as a litmus test, so I will almost never approach anyone without their RP tag up. If you're unaware of how, it's just /roleplaying to toggle it. Similarly, if my tag isn't up and I haven't posted, it's likely I'm not in character at that moment.
I prefer longer term RP for the most part.
I'm often around Ul'dah since it's where several of my characters live (Goblet) and operate and I'm not cognizant of other spots where people consistently roleplay. That said, I'm more than willing to have my characters appear at specific spots for the purpose of a roleplay.
I can usually deal with some lore-bending stuff, but the more fantastical and wild it is, the less likely I'll interact directly with it.
I really don't get into memey characters. If you're injecting memes into your character's dialogue regularly, I might get bored of that really fast. If you try to justify IRL references by saying your character is 'insane', I am probably going to just be done from post one and consider you either kinda lame or full-on ableist.
I play one of my characters as a jerk that holds a certain degree of IC prejudice about others, but I do not care much for real-life prejudices. If you have some red flags that suggest you are an IRL racist, sexist, ableist, transphobe, homophobe, or other such trash, I'm probably unlikely to interact with you.
I generally can be considered IC when my RP tag is up. Otherwise (and in some cases where I'm semi-idle), it's best if you send me a tell before trying to interact.
That said, I do not like RP in tells unless it's with someone I already know. Most strangers walking up in tells want specific things. You're welcome to use tells to get my attention or ask for a particular way of starting. I also don't mind being asked to be somewhere else for a walk-up.
I don't mind ERP, but I'm pretty unlikely to do it regularly, and in many cases I cannot sit through a whole scene since people often want to do things later in the day (Central US) than I usually operate. I also find most casual encounters boring as hell. Romance over random ERP, and barring that, I dunno. Weird shit.
None of these are hard rules, so if you've gotten this far, understand a lot of these are just notable things I've experienced. I can probably deal with some of what I've mentioned as a negative in small dosages.
Hi. Name's Aqua, and I'm an old RPer and hack, cough gamer.
I'm a relatively cis dude. I say relatively because I might've ended up trans had life dealt me different cards. That said, I'm trans-positive and do not judge anyone's sexual preferences. Everyone is valid, unless you're acting to suppress another's validity.
I am about as close to asexual in real life as one can get. I am also married, so if any of those immediately bother you, there's your exit. I've had a not insignificant amount of people try to pursue OOC relationships with me, and I want to make sure it's clear I'm not looking for that.
I suffer from a handful of mild mental illnesses, most notably a mild form of Dissociative Identity Disorder. I don't have defined 'alters', so much as have very strong shifts in mood, interests, and demeanor. And a shit memory at times.
I am a critic at heart. I can talk shit for days about just about anything, but I don't necessarily care much, aside from not wanting to hear about things I'm not into constantly. WoW, League, Minecraft, and most PvP games are at best trigger topics for me, and I'll probably zone out of any conversations on them (and probably leave the area entirely if it's all I ever hear from a particular group). A hipster reflex, if you will. My interests are very broad, but oddly specific, and can be quite sporadic at times due to the previous bullet point.
I'm not a 'community' person. I don't like to give anyone special treatment because they identify with a particular social group. I like to make friends, but I do not like shallow friends of convenience. Trust is earned, and I've drifted through enough communities to understand what blind trust gets people.
If any or all of the above doesn't scare you off, feel free to connect with me OOC, as I am often at worst kind of boring to talk to. Just don't expect me to stick around terribly long if you invite me to a discord or an FC, as I tend to get bored of big groups quite easily. I truthfully don't have much in the way of friends since most people just come to me for a singular thing (game, RP, whatever) and are notably absent when I'm feeling something different.
